Advantages
When completed, the Good Spring IGCC project will be an advanced electricity plant utilizing local coal. It is intended also to be carbon capture ready. The power created by this project will serve the PJM West electricity market and meet Alternative Energy Portfolio Standards required in Pennsylvania.
By implementing HCERI’s IGCC design the Good Spring plant will have the
advantage of:
- Highest Carbon conversion
- Elimination of harmful condensation elements
- Low maintenance requirements reducing the need for a spare gasifier
- Higher cold gas efficiency and oxygen consumption compared to slurry gasifiers
- 50% smaller cooling system
- Flexibility
- wide range of feedstock adaptability, including lignite, brown coal, bituminous, anthracite, pet coke and biomass.
- Syngas Quenching (SGQ) and Syngas Cooling (SGC) options
